Become an LSC Member

Local School Councils are comprised of 11 or 12 members:
  • the principal;
  • 6 parent representatives;
  • 2 community representatives;
  • 2 teacher representatives; and
  • 1 student representative (high schools only).

You can support one of the schools in the 46th Ward by running for a position as a parent or community representative. 

To be eligible to serve as a parent representative, you must:
  • be the parent or legal guardian of a child currently enrolled in that school and
  • you must not be an employee of the Board.

To be eligible to serve as a community representative, you must:
  • reside in the attendance area or voting district of that school;
  • you must NOT be the parent or legal guardian of a child currently enrolled at that school; and
  • you must not be an employee of the Board.

No experience is required to be a parent or community representative and once elected, you will serve a two-year term.  Elections for LSC positions are held every two years on the Spring Report Card Pick-Up Day.  

To run as an LSC parent or community representative, you must submit the following forms:
